📖 主な意味
- 1 【動詞】（を）予測する・予想する predict the result（結果を予測する）／ データや経験をもとに将来を前もって言う。最も基本の用法。

💡 使い方・例文
① predict that 節（〜だと予測する）
predict のあとに that節（主語＋動詞）を続けて「〜だと予測する」と言うのが最頻出。that は省略できる。未来の話なので節の中は will などの未来表現になることが多い。
Experts predict that the economy will recover next year.
専門家は来年経済が回復すると予測している。
② predict A（A を予測する）
目的語に名詞を直接置く形。predict the weather / predict the future / predict the outcome のように使う。「予報する」の意味でも使える。
It is hard to predict the weather a month ahead.
1か月先の天気を予測するのは難しい。
③ 名詞 prediction（予測・予言）
名詞形は prediction。make a prediction（予測を立てる）の形で覚える。動詞のときと意味は同じだが、文中で名詞として使える点が便利。
Her prediction about the election turned out to be correct.
選挙についての彼女の予測は正しいとわかった。
⚠️ よくある間違い：predict to rise → predict that it will rise（predict は that節をとり、to不定詞は続かない）
